DITO Telecommunity passed its third mandated performance audit, a copy of a document showed Thursday, with the new major player surpassing its commitments for network coverage and internet speeds.
The company said it has received the notice from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) which headed the audit.
“DITO expressed satisfaction with the recent advice from the NTC that it has passed the third technical audit as required in the CPCN (Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity),” DITO Telecommunity chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said in a statement.
“We continue to abide by -- and even exceed -- our commitments to government to improve speed and coverage in the telco sector and bring real competition for the benefit of Filipino consumers,” he added.
According to the NTC, its independent auditor found that the new telco player has a national population coverage of 72.39% while the minimum average broadband speeds delivered are 71.77 megabits per second (mbps) for 4G and 801.19 mbps for 5G.
The numbers have surpassed the company’s commitment of 70.01% national population coverage and minimum average broadband speed of 55 mbps in its third year.
In late August, DITO reached its growth target of 12 million subscribers, which was four months earlier than its initial year-end goal.
