The Mislatel Consortium, composed of Udenna Corporation, Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp., and China Telecommunications Corporation, will be renamed Dito Telecommunity Corporation. The new telco player has received its Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN) or ‘permit to operate’ from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on July 8.

“After complying with the requirement of Php 10 billion in additional paid-in capital and the submission of a performance bond, Dito Telecommunity Corporation has now been granted its CPCN and frequencies for them to extensively test their network before commencing commercial operations,” said Atty. Liel Cordoba, NTC Commissioner.

“We thank the government sector for working closely with us and the Filipinos for their enthusiastic support. The CPCN means a lot to us at Udenna. This is more than a compliance certification. It is a clear signal that we are fully committed to providing world-class telecommunications in the country. This issuance will fast track our project rollouts as we plan to start commercial operations by 2020. This is just the beginning of establishing a telecommunity that will celebrate every Filipino’s life, existence and presence,” said Mr. Dennis Uy, Chairman of the Board of Dito Telecommunity Corporation and Chairman and President of Udenna Corporation and Chairman of Chelsea.

Dito Telecommunity Corporation will first conduct a pilot user program towards the end of this year to test the network in order to come out with a better and more robust offering. It will launch only 4G services and will no longer offer legacy 2G and 3G systems.

“In this era of globalization, telecommunications is vital. It is the key enabler of productivity of a country and we’re finally here. As the new major telco player, we will work hard to offer the best telco services that the Filipinos deserve,” said Dito Telecommunity Corporation Spokesman Atty. Adel Tamano.

“A fair and competitive telco industry will unlock even more socio-economic opportunities for Filipinos. The introduction of Dito Telecommunity Corporation—a player committed to nation-building as well as uncompromised security—will offer more innovative solutions across various sectors and will contribute to the country’s inclusive and sustainable growth for a more empowered citizenry,” said Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Gringo Honasan.
